Background: John Blackwell joined the Starfleet Marines at 16 years old. Blessed by an eidetic memory and interest in medical field, PVT/Crewman Blackwell was selected for Corpsman school shortly after basic training. In the midst of his new training environment, John met and fell into bed with the youngest daughter of Admiral Richardson. Janice Richardson became a fixture in John life though their affair was brief but passionate. On completing his Tech school, his high scores qualified him for entrance to Starfleet academy and according to his girlfriend a charmed life with her at his side. Crewman Blackwell turned this offer down and earned the scorn of Janice Richardson. The fight that followed still is legendary within Starfleet Marine Training site. John than volunteered for deep space duty and was assigned to the 7th of 56 Fleet Marines attached to the USS Hope. He spent 4 years on the Hope fighting Cardassions and supporting Humanitarian Aid missions on the Federation and Cardassian border. On once such mission he met and later married a Bajorian refuge, Dr Dakin Lara.

After 4 years of high stress missions and a new wife, PO 3rd Class/CPL Blackwell was transferred back to Earth. He was assigned to 1st of 56 aboard the USS Victory. He used his time well on Earth; he was able to attend Starfleet’s Advanced Tactical Course as well as complete his undergraduate degree at Cambridge University. Dr Blackwell-Dakin Lara gave birth to their first two children, Honor and Miriam.

During this time PO Blackwell was court-martial for supplying weapon components and medical supplies to Bajorian resistance movement. The Prosecuting Officer turned out to be Lt. Janice Richardson. Again, Janice and John fought but not over his crime but of his wife. Janice told him his children were half-breeds and he was a disgrace to the human race. And Janice blamed the Bajorians and John's sympathy to them for his current crisis. Though he was found not guilty of the crime it was only because JAG lost it critical evidence before trial. An official reprimand was placed in PO Blackwell's record. But this did not prevent him from being promoted to PO 2nd Class and being and cross-trained in starship security.

Five years passed. While PTO Blackwell was Attending PTO School at Starbase 12, his wife was working near the Badlands, doing Humanitarian aid work with Federation Peace Corp. She just gave birth to their youngest child Elisabeth, and left her in care of John’s sister Heather on earth. Dr Dakin-Blackwell was killed in an apparent alien attack in the system she was in. Her body was never recovered and the details of what happened were not learned till years later. PO Blackwell wife’s death devastated him, and he threw himself into his work more. It was this point John considered leaving the Marine Corp and returning to Cestus III with his children.

When his sister, Heather Blackwell, was assigned to Betazed, during the beginning of what we now know as the Dominion War, John applied for transfer there. He was assigned to the 7th Fleet and to the 3rd of the 56 Marine detachment. During the invasion of Betazed by the Dominion-Cardassian fleet he fought with the doomed ground forces fighting to the last man to defend the planet. His sister and his children were able to escape on Federation diplomatic ship during the beginning of the battle. Unfortunately, Elizabeth Dakin-Blackwell's Spinal Cord was damaged, and she was paralyzed from the waist down, when a bulkhead fell on her. Her older sisters and a young ensign saved her life. John did not learn of this for almost 2 years.

PO Blackwell evaded capture and joined the Bedzoid Resistance Movement. For 2 years, John fought the Dominion the best he could. He used his marine background to help build guerrilla cells and help set up medical care for the resistance. He became a one of the leaders of resistance and was considered a hero on Betazed. He was captured by Jem’Hadar and was tortured for 2 months by the Vorta and Cardassians before a Starfleet task force freed him during the liberation of Betazed. He was found with his face completely damaged and dying of dehydration. John told the rescue team who found him still conscious, “Took ya’ll long enough”.

John was evacuated to Brooks Medical Center on earth to recover from his injures.

After spending a year in medical hold on Earth, PO Blackwell was promoted to PO 1st Class and ordered by the SGT Major of Federation Marines to attend Officer Candidate program. PO Blackwell refused awards and commendations for his actions on Betazed. His reply to the Admiral Ma’adeem; when he refused his award for actions on Betazed, “The Prophets, The Corps And my Family. I don’t need any fancy ribbons to honor any of them, so give them to somebody who cares and with all due respect sir, I rather would get the hugs from my daughters.”

Starfleet still awarded him a Commendation for Valor and entered it into his record. After completing OCS, now Ensign Blackwell was assigned to USS Lionheart and was reunited with his daughters for the first time in 3 years.

In the months that followed, Ensign Blackwell proved an asset to the crew of the Lionheart. His Medical skills and security training had contributed to the success of many away missions and saving lives of many crewmembers. John knack for improvising tactics and medical treatment has made him valuable to the crew. But his stubbornness which has been his trademark, has lead to being hurt on more than one occasion, and in one case, poisoned for his trouble. He is fiercely loyal to Captain Rheyan, but that came into question during the Imperium Incident. His faith has been put to the test but he did as all good Marines do; Carry On.

Ensign Blackwell was promoted along with his love, Dr Rohana, to Lt. Junior Grade following the mission to the Imperium space.

On a personal level John dealt with the raising of his daughters and a budding relationship with Dr. Kara Rohana. His daughters were tad bit of a challenge to him. For a man who has faced some of the most dangerous aliens in the galaxy, his little girls threw him high for a loop. From Honor’s crush on Vect, to Miriam ballet, and his youngest daughter Beth’s escapades on cracking Starfleet security codes. In the end though John does his best and though very stern he gives all the love he can to his daughters. They are a source of quite strength for him and his rock that keep him going. Kara is a mystery and joy in John life. For the first time since Lara died, he has felt love that has touched his very soul. Kara found a way to break past John wall and let the man he is out, not just the Marine. Also John has dealt with an addiction to stimulates for which he used to the point of severe abuse.

Shortly after the first Imperium Incident, John received a message from Starfleet while on leave visiting Bajor. The message confirmed was Starfleet has always suspected that a Borg cube has destroyed the planet that his late wife was on. The message was a double blow to John's ego and sent him in to a slow tail spin. The contents of the message were two fold. The first was that his wife Lara was pregnant with a son when she was apparently killed. And 2nd part was the worst. An Intelligence report from Admiral Janeway's Office; it stated that the Federation Colony Lara was on had been assimilated. They had found DNA traces from a drone that matched his wife's DNA. The drone was part of a recent raid in federation space. In the next few months, John's drug abuse spiraled down hill until he was reported to Chief Medical Officer, Josuan Mystican by his own girlfriend, Dr. Rohana.

With the continual support of his daughters and his love, as well as Captain Rheyan. John started on the slow road to recovery over the next year. With the departure of Vect back to the Imperium, Dr. Mystican was promoted to First Officer. Dr. Rohana was promoted to Chief Medical Officer, and John now found himself working for the woman he loved. That year lead to other events which lead to almost tragic circumstances. His daughter, Miriam, left the Lionheart to study to become a Vedek and learn more of her Bajorian heritage. His daughter Honor became more independent taking care of her little sister more as her father was recovering from his addiction. John served for a period as tactical officer to keep him from temptation and so that he would not abuse his medical officer position. He excelled at his new job but he always found himself drawn back to sickbay and to saving lives. After many Missions, including an encounter with the Mirror universe, a slave ship, and a disease targeting Betazoids; John persevered and started to become the outstanding officer that his crew, his love, and his daughter thought he could be.

It all came to a screeching halt when John received a message from the provisional government of Bajor. His daughter Miriam had been kidnapped by former Resistance members, now called terrorists and the monastery she was staying in was destroyed. Lt. Blackwell took a Leave of Absence from Starfleet to go to Bajor. When he arrived he was met by former members of the Bajorian resistance who were friends of his late wife. He learned the leader of the terrorist cell was his late wife’s brother, Lebo. As John planed an unorthodox rescue with the help of few contacts on Bajor, he ran into his ex girlfriend Janice Richardson. The Now Commander Richardson ordered Lt. Blackwell to abandon his rescue attempt and to return to his ship. After a few minutes of argument, Lt Blackwell hit Commander Richardson knocking her out cold as well as using her security codes to authorize his rescue attempt.

The rescue attempt did not go as planed, and though John did recover his daughter Miriam, she was in a coma. He also lost his right eye in a hand to hand fight in witch he killed his former brother in law. After recovering Miriam, John set out back to the USS Lionheart being chased by Starfleet Security. While awaiting the consequences of his actions on Bajor, John witnessed the Outbreak of the Federation/Imperium War. In the wake of such circumstances, John was married to Kara Rohana by Captain Rheyan in a ship wide wedding overseen by his friends and new family. But martial bliss was not to be, as the Leo set out to evacuate the citizens of Bajor, and the new civilian John Blackwell returned to Earth with his daughters and the Leo’s non combatants.

Having resigned his commission John was now looking forward to being with his daughters and new stepson and seeking better care for Miriam. Right as John stepped off the transporter pad onto earth soil he was approached by the Commandant of the Star Fleet Marine Corp. John was offered a chance to train young Marines and Star Fleet security personal in advanced small group tactics and combat medicine and most importantly help the Federation’s war effort. After some reluctance John accepted the offer and now lives in southern Japan with his children. John keeps in constant contact with his wife Kara and worries about her on a regular basis.
